In Advent: We Remember

Slider Posts· Walking Through Advent

We Remember, so We Tell Stories My husband often repeats his favorite stories to me, which puzzled me for many years. I wondered: Does he think he's never told me about the game-winning home run he hit when he was eight years old? How could I forget that the tree in his parent's backyard came ...

The Thanksgiving Miracle

Lagniappe· Slider Posts

Thanksgiving Works Sometimes my thoughts and feelings are like a runaway train. Truthfully, I feel like I can’t help it. At all. But I can: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, ...

When Everything's New Again This has been a tough year for me and I've fought my feelings every day. Our cross-country move and my husband's military retirement were huge. "Everything is new again" sounds so beautiful until you apply it to finding a new grocery store, a new dry cleaner, a new gas ...

Curating the Good· Slider Posts

A Story Paints a Picture I have a lot of family-picture-guilt and regret. When my first baby came home from the hospital, life was overwhelming. I was almost 18 hours away from family. My husband was unhappy in his new job and his health was not good. We had no friends and money was tight. One ...

Day 30 #CuratingtheGood — Sunday Soundtrack, Top Ten

Curating the Good

One of my favorite things about my Write 31 Days series last year AND this year has been listening to the Sunday Soundtrack every week. Music is powerful. Scripture says the Lord inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). When we confess our faith, we glorify God by speaking the truth about ...

Day 29 #CuratingtheGood — A Good Result

Curating the Good· Slider Posts

A Good Result When we begin something new, most of us start with the hope that we will get a good result in the end. We are a performance-based culture. We want progress and like to measure outcomes and see success where we have invested our efforts. My daughter recently wrote a persuasive essay ...

We are so thankful for this young man. ❤️ We are so thankful for this young man. ❤️
When the first day of school is also the day your When the first day of school is also the day your firstborn drives herself to college, it’s a lot. We moved her stuff into her dorm last week. Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back. Auburn University is a better place because you are there! ❤️

Also, so grateful for the wonderful school where she spent the last four years—the perfect place to land after years of homeschooling on the move. “For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” (Ps 100:5) #curatingthegood #graduated🎓 #wisebeyondheryears @graciethenerd @lafonte04 @westminsteroakmtn
