A Video Bible Study: Elizabeth George’s
“Putting on a Gentle and Quiet Spirit”
Lesson 9
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy (1 Peter 2:9-10).
Peter reminds us of our many blessings. Elizabeth George says naming these blessings should prevent us from suffering any low self-esteem – we are chosen, loved, fought for, died for…pretty awesome, eh!
I shared with you that low self esteem is the result of taking our eyes off God and placing them on ourselves. See much more in the video:
In closing, as Mommasaid this week, we are in charge of our thought life. Here’s how:
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you (Phil 4:8-9).
Do you suffer from self-esteem issues, feeling somehow “not good enough” or ” unloved”? If so, I would love to pray for you. You can leave a prayer request in the comments or send me a private message through the contact form on this page.
