A Video Bible Study: Elizabeth George’s “Putting on a Gentle and Quiet Spirit”, Lesson One
Hello Dear Friends!
Today’s Post is a Video! My very first. We are beginning the study of Elizabeth George’s book, “Putting on a Gentle and Quiet Spirit” (amazon link).
If the video screen does not appear below, please just refresh your browser. If it does appear just press play! Please let me know if you are able to see it and understand it. And please bear with me as I learn how best to “do” this technology.
This is our Bible verse for today’s Lesson: Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you (1 Peter 1:1-2).
Here are the verses I mentioned: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid (John 14:27). And this is my prayer for all of us: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer (Psalm 19:14).

Awesome! Is it possible to sign up for the study, or will we follow the study on you’re blog? 🙂
Britta says
Hey Courtney! I still haven’t figured out what I would do differently for study participants but I am open to suggestions! The study is longer than most at 25 lessons. We will be at it for a while. I would be open to starting a closed FB group or Pinterest page (that would be fun) or planning some sort of skype event here or there…life has been brutal for me lately in terms of too many commitments, difficult people, and a few family health issues…I would be interested in hearing your ideas and would be better able to implement them a little later. I would love to hear any creative way for those of us doing the book to connect and go deeper…I am interested in finding better ways to connect. Can you give me some feedback? Thank you for asking – you are on my heart as Gracie and I work through the material. 🙂

Hi Britta! Sorry for a delayed response! Things have been crazy, crazy! I’m just getting a chance to check my email! Does Elizabeth have a blog where she is hosting the study? If not, although its not your favorite thing, you are great sharing the study! Maybe a study within a study? We could use your blog as the home? Facebook party? Twitter party? Thoughts?
Britta says
No worries! 🙂 I am sure the she (Elizabeth George) is not doing this Bible study online…it is from 2000 😉 But I just wanted to say I am open to your ideas…when we both have a little more time! Life is crazy, crazy right now. What happened? I could not tell you but I am ridiculously busy form the time I wake until I do the dishes after dinner…then I want take a nap on the couch!

I’m not very technical, so I’m not sure! I like the video you presented last week. Maybe something like that and we can discuss the book on your blog? I’m willing to help anyway I can! God has blessed me with a job (YAY!), but I have less time for doing the thing I love… reading my blogs! My anxiety is so high! We need the money, but I really don’t want to work! LOL!

Hi, Britta! I am a former student of LSU school of dentistry. You were one of my instructors when I was there from 1997-1999. I saw your pin on Facebook and just watched your video. It was great! I share your feelings and enjoyed what you had to say. I will continue to keep up with your website. I too feel like I need inner peace and will pray for you and myself! God Bless!
Britta says
Hi Melissa!! I remember you 🙂 I saw on FB that you have been practicing for 14 years now…wow, time has flown! Thank you for your prayers – I appreciate them. Lately, I have been in a pressure cooker but God has a purpose for everything and it feels like He is refining me in the area of finding peace during difficulties. I have had enough practice…you’d think I’d be better at this by now! 😉
So good to hear from you!
