The first question on page 69 is “Why is it significant that the name Jehovah is combined with other words that describe God’s character?” This is the premise of the entire book! The name Jehovah is the most used word/name to refer to God in the Old Testament – Jehovah…the Self-existent One, “I AM” or “I AM WHO I AM”. So Jehovah often precedes a name which describes God. Jehovah Jireh: “Jehovah”=”I AM”; “Jireh”=”Provider”…God says “I AM the Provider”. At least these are my thoughts about Question 1. What would you say about it?
I am interested especially in these questions:
4. Why do you think God asked Abraham to slay Isaac as a sacrifice?
5. What has God asked you to do that was as difficult for you as sacrificing Isaac was for Abraham? Why do you think he required it of you?
8. How is God’s ability to foresee pertinent to your life?
You may answer any other questions that interest you – in fact ANY comments about this chapter are of great interest to me 🙂 Keep in mind the Memory Verse this week:
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:19
