This past Spring, I fell in love with this verse: “You know the contents of the message which He sent to Israel, announcing the good news (Gospel) of peace by Jesus Christ, Who is Lord of all—” (Acts 10:36, AMP). The Gospel is peace with God.
It feels like the word Gospel gets a bit overused these days. People like to use it as an adjective: gospel ministry, gospel music, gospel church, gospel project, gospel living…don’t get me wrong, I love the Gospel, but if we over-use or misuse a term, it can begin to lose it’s meaning. So when I read Acts 10:36, it resonated with me. It simplified AND enriched the meaning of the word gospel for me at the same time.
Abundant life here on Earth means fullness of joy, a sense of security in the face of difficulties, redemption of relationships and fulfillment of purpose—all of this is impossible when we are not at peace with God.
Truth: If we don’t have peace with God, nothing else matters.
Peace with God means repaired relationship, reconciliation, strong fellowship…and these bring confidence and contentment, in spite of what we see in the World.
Do you have peace with God? If you don’t, please email me. I would LOVE to talk with you about this!
