Being a Prodigal Daughter means that you have a relationship with the Father, but sometimes it is a little rocky. Have you ever struggled to find peace with God or with other people?
Do the words
“submit” and “obey”
get under your skin?
We are called to love the Lord with all of our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves. In the story of the Prodigal Son, the younger brother did not love well. He wasted relationship with and inheritance from his father. He put himself first and he devalued relationship with his gracious and loving father. For the same reasons, the older brother was a Prodigal too. Both sons did not respect the father enough to obey without question. Both sons thought more of themselves than of their father. Love of self won over love of others.
Prodigal means extravagant. When we place our desires above relationship with God, we are being extravagantly wasteful. Our inheritance IS relationship with the Father, through Jesus. Because of the grace of the Gospel, we can become Prodigal Daughters who enjoy our inheritance by loving extravagantly instead. This is Good News! I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Won’t you join me?
