Hymns to Bless You
Our church sings hymns. We don’t have praise music or a band. We have a piano and a guitar. I love contemporary Christian music…but I just love hymns more. I am thankful that, for the first time in my marriage, we attend a traditional service and my kids are growing up singing hymns in church. This is music we will always share, whether we have drums and a bass guitar in our next church or not.
Our church sings selections from Indelible Grace, an artist collective in Nashville that puts traditional hymns to new melodies. I really love I Asked the Lord...makes me cry everytime! Some of my other favorites (not that we sing these in church) are O Love That Will Not Let Me Go and On Jordan’s Stormy Banks. Songs like these really stir my heart!
Music to Remind You —
You’re the Dwelling Place of God
This week is all about being God’s Dwelling Place. So often we focus on the negative – the thighs that touch, crow’s feet, the gray hairs…we can be so focused on seeing our external flaws that we forget to see how God has transformed us, inside.
Jesus came so that we could have peace with God and live in fellowship with Him.
Do you not know that
you are a temple of God
and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
1 Cor 3:16
We are well-loved. We are special. He has redeemed us and crowned us with love and compassion (Psalm 103:4). We are beautiful in His eyes. Here are some songs to remind you that you are chosen and treasured by God:
- More Beautiful You (Johnny Diaz)
- He Knows my Name (Francesca Battistelli)
- Wanted (Dara Maclean)
- Remind me Who I am (Jason Gray)
- Beautiful for Me (Nichole Nordeman)
If you have Spotify, you can follow me and my growing playlist called A #MoreAbundantLife. I’ll be adding to it each week. Or you can listen to it right here. If you don’t see the window with the list below, try refreshing your browser.
I love these songs—how about you? Tell me, have you checked out the Spotify playlist??
