Friday is our second installment of Book Club! We are reading one novella from Sons of Encouragement
(Amazon link) by Francine Rivers per month. This month we are reading The Warrior, the story of Joshua’s good friend Caleb. I will post about it Friday and you may comment anytime after that. Francine Rivers paints a very compelling story by adding in the historical, geographical and cultural details (and take a little poetic license!). I have found that reading through her fictional accounts really helps my understanding of the Bible because she highlights points that I may have skipped over in my previous readings of the passage. If you haven’t yet, please consider getting this wonderful book, you can always read the assignments at your leisure and post a comment at any time .
Please be praying about our next Bible Study choice. I have really enjoyed all the studies we have completed, but for where my life is right now (a little hectic), I am leaning toward another Women of Faith selection. I am writing a Family Life class for my church on the side and it is sometimes difficult to fit in everything. But I am praying too. God will show the way. We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps (Prov 16:9). April 4 is the last day of our current study. Please pray too, as I try to add posts into the new categories I have been working in during these last few months. I am working to find new HERstories and I am excited to see what the Lord will bring.
And some of the waiting is over for me. Unofficially, we have gotten our next assignment for the military. It looks like we are heading out West in the early Fall. This is a first for our family; and we are excited to find out this news, but are still waiting for the official confirmation. And my Mom is doing exceedingly well in her chemo treatments. A recent scan gave a good report and she has settled into her routine of medical appointments and solitude (due to a low white count) without many side effects to speak of – what a blessing! As for me personally, my husband is really supportive of my writing this blog and my writing in other areas and he has offered to send me to two writing conferences this year. I pray they will enrich me in my faith, in my writing and in my blogging.
Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever. Psalm 106:1
