31 Days to #ASimplerJoy: Happier Skin

31 Days to #ASimplerJoy

Here is one thing that is totally drag about getting older:  having wrinkles AND acne…at the same time!  And once you’ve got them, there is not much to do about the wrinkles; they sort of come with the territory.  On the other hand, the acne is an unexpected spoiler.  Struggling with really bad skin at any age can be depressing, but seems like it should be a sort of “been there, done that” deal, because it feels like I’ve already paid my dues in this department!

Still, I had a bad bout with bad skin this summer; it was worse than anything I’d ever had in high school.  And even a little worse than my pregnancy skin (hint: “glowing” was not the term to use for me then).  In addition to medications from the dermatologist, I began using a sweet little gadget that I really like: The Conair Power Facial Cleanser.

I started out by asking my peeps for advice.  My dear friend Melissa reminded me about a medication I had an Rx for that I wasn’t using, and taking that helped some.  My sweet friend Cati told me she uses a (non-electric) brush.  And another friend says she uses the much more expensive (but highly rated) Clarisonic ($149).  I am sure the Clarisonic is amazing.  But at 90% cheaper, I figured the Conair ($14.99) was worth the risk.  And…Amazon Prime strikes again!  I love it!!

I don’t think this little brush would be enough to control this kind of acne all by itself.  But it helps to exfoliate, which was a key aspect to my skincare regimen that I was lacking.  I don’t know what I enjoy the most: the actual product or the fact that I paid so little for it.  I love a bargain – such #ASimplerJoy!

How about you?  Got a silver bullet for your skincare regimen?  Or tell me what your favorite skincare product is?

When the first day of school is also the day your When the first day of school is also the day your firstborn drives herself to college, it’s a lot. We moved her stuff into her dorm last week. Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back. Auburn University is a better place because you are there! ❤️
