As I have mentioned before, my hubby has chronic GI pain. This has definitely caused him to avoid coffee in the past. Caffeine can upset the GI system, but the acid level in coffee is often a major factor as well. These days we cold brew our coffee, which results in much lower acid levels than hot brewed coffee. You can read more about the benefits of low acid coffee here.
I live in Phoenix. Did y’all know it is hot here…a lot? I love ice coffee anyway, but living in the dessert drives me in that direction too. My sweet hubby makes coffee (mostly for me) and leaves it in the fridge. I can have ice coffee everyday – much cheaper than Starbucks! And he can have some too, once in a while. It takes about 12 hours to steep, so you have to plan ahead. He makes it the night before and I put it in the fridge the next morning. It can be a little tricky to get the hang of making it, so please feel free to email me if you are interested…I can consult my coffee tech support and get back to you. 😉
I love to have my ice coffee with a good amount of milk and sugar free vanilla syrup. Having ice coffee anytime I want? Does that make me spoiled? Maybe, but I love that it is cheaper and readily available. And I love that the Toddy Maker and its replacement parts are available on Amazon.com. Amazon Prime strikes again! My Cold Brew Toddy Maker is #ASimplerJoy.
