Weekly, sometimes daily, I wonder why I spend my time writing anything beyond grocery lists.
Once, when I was on my way to a blogging conference I was seated by the nicest lady. She didn’t know what blogging was. I told her how it works—that I write posts, make graphics, post to social media, read and learn about blogging, go to conferences, and stuff like that. She said, “That sounds like a great job! How much do you make?” <<Crickets>>
LOL! Um, no ma’am. This is pretty much the most expensive hobby I’ve ever had.
Last year, around this time, I was praying about my writing…the same-old-should-I-write-at-all, and what to write, plus how to find people who might want to read it (LOL)…typical blogger angst. And these prayers I had prayed so many times before, and all those times before, the Lord had reassured me.
So many times before the Lord has kept me going by sending a kind comment or a writing breakthrough. You know…He really does care about the little things we do.
But this time it was different.
I realized that it was time to do something different.
I had been trying to write something worth reading.
Instead I should have been living a life worth writing about.
This knowledge clunked me on the head like a ton of bricks.
I’ve had life. But not life in abundance.
Is your life “to the full”? Does it “overflow”? What does it mean to have a more abundant life? All month we are exploring what an abundant life might look like. This is going to be good! Thanks for joining me!!

Trying to catch up on reading 31 day posts tonight; just can’t concentrate on my own writing at this time!
I definitely need to continue reading your series; sure can use a more abundant life…my life IS full – fully busy, maybe! But abundant? Not so sure!!

I am the opposite! I can’t seem to write AND socialize! 😛 I am at a conference tonight thru Sunday…so it’s all I can do to get my post ready for tomorrow (which will be here in 2 hours). I am thankful for you stopping by!!! I am not sure I can reciprocate till I get home! Or maybe at the airport Sunday??? 😉

What a lovely blog you have Britta!! I’m a fellow 31 day writer and found your blog. I am so excited to follow along with your journey this year. Last year I wrote 31 Days to Peace and this year I am doing 31 Days of Hand-lettered Prints. Thank you again for sharing your heart!

Hi Jamie! My goodness – your hand-lettering is just. so. beautiful!!! It must be fun to be able to create like that. I would be tempted to do my grocery lists in it too, just to be swathed in beauty. 🙂

Love your words. Living the Abudant life God intends seems so easy. Your post made me stop and think just how much I’m missing. Looking forward to reading more, and living more abundantly. Thank you.

Thank you Debra! In one sense it is the easy way…but we are bent to take the hard road, aren’t we? 😉 Isn’t He gracious to us? He loves us and doesn’t leave us, even when we fall behind. 🙂

Hi Britta:
I love the thought behind your beautiful and calming website. Living a life worth writing about, that is the key, isn’t it? That’s what Christ calls us to do. We can make a difference in our homes, neighborhoods and communities. Thank you for the reminder.

I want to live a life worth writing about too. Sometimes that means stepping away for the noise of blogging, social media and our own inner critic. I look forward to following your series and finding more of the abundant life.
