A Precious Offering What is the nature of a precious offering? Several years ago, I got to thinking about the practice of giving something up for Lent.  My daddy retired from the Marine Corps in New Orleans, LA, and that city, with its Catholic roots, really embraces the church calendar. Everyone I ...

Lent is Time in Between

Lent· Slider Posts

Lent is time in between. It is fasting between feasts—Epiphany and Easter. It comes at the end of winter and—in some places (places not like Arizona)—the darkness of Lent mirrors the darkness near the end of winter. Easter and Spring are coming and they mean rebirth and new life...but in Lent, we're ...

In other words, his heart resembled his Heavenly Father's heart.  After the rebellion of King Saul (1 Samuel 13:14), God sought and found, "A man after my own heart, ...

We are but dust. We sin, grieving ourselves, other people, and the Lord on a regular basis. But during Lent, we sit in our ashes. We fast, instead of feasting. In observing Lent...

We are the walking dead. No, not zombies. But the clock is ticking. From the moment we are born, our bodies are wasting away. We were born to die. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are ...

When the first day of school is also the day your When the first day of school is also the day your firstborn drives herself to college, it’s a lot. We moved her stuff into her dorm last week. Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back. Auburn University is a better place because you are there! ❤️
