Counting the Cost

Loving God

Turning away from sin can be very difficult, even sacrificial.   "I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do..." (Rom 7:14, ESV). Like Paul, I still struggle with sin, and find that I cannot ...

JOY!

I guess I have always struggled with my feelings getting the best of me. I can be grouchy. Lately, more and more, feelings of anxiety and defeat try to creep up on me. During difficult periods in my marriage or bad times with my husband's health, I thought it was just the circumstances. But now I ...

Stewarding A Grateful Heart

Loving God

I am new to the gym near my house.  My hubby is a gym rat, but I really dislike exercise...the idea of it, the time it takes to do it, the being sweaty after, the being bored during, and any and all of the pain....you get the picture.  :P But a few weeks ago something happened that made my whiny ...

The Very Truth

I usually shy away from controversy, like the one last week about the Supreme Court decision broadening the definition of marriage. Typically, I don't cultivate conversations, write blog posts, or start discussions on social media about these things...I figure that someone else has already said ...

What Real Love Does

My Neighbor

My friend Jeanette has a beautiful son, like stop-in-the-street-and-stare-at-him cuteness. And this sweet little guy has a terminal illness.  On FaceBook and on her blog she often shares about his hospital visits, infusions, daily pain, and sickness...and about the sadness...and about the joy ...

Loving Others: Quietly

My Neighbor

Sometimes I struggle to be quiet when confronted. When someone corners you, what do you do?  Do you cower?  Or do you come out swinging? I get knots in my stomach.  I can feel the tight, tight tension, just below my ribs, like I have been doing crunches, just without the exercise benefits. As a ...

We are so thankful for this young man. ❤️ We are so thankful for this young man. ❤️
When the first day of school is also the day your When the first day of school is also the day your firstborn drives herself to college, it’s a lot. We moved her stuff into her dorm last week. Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back. Auburn University is a better place because you are there! ❤️

Also, so grateful for the wonderful school where she spent the last four years—the perfect place to land after years of homeschooling on the move. “For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” (Ps 100:5) #curatingthegood #graduated🎓 #wisebeyondheryears @graciethenerd @lafonte04 @westminsteroakmtn
