A Video Bible Study: Elizabeth George’s
“Putting on a Gentle and Quiet Spirit”
Today I am taking a short break from writing about the #SummerofJoy, to continue our regular Friday feature, the video Bible study for Elizabeth George’s Putting on a Gentle and Quiet Spirit (amazon.com link). Wowee – we are a little over half way done! Previous videos can be found here.
Today’s lesson focuses on this scripture:
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For
“Whoever desires to love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit;
let him turn away from evil and do good;
let him seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3:8-12
Elizabeth George says all Christian groups should have:
- Tender Hearts
- Humble Minds
When we encounter relationships with others that do not reflect these attributes, she says we should “Trust the Lord” because the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. Check out today’s video for talk about learning to Trust the Lord. 🙂
So tell me, are you every tempted to take situations into your own hands? What helps you to trust the Lord? How is God growing your trust in Him? So good to be with you today…Happy Weekend to you!
