A Video Bible Study:
Elizabeth George’s “Putting on a Gentle and Quiet Spirit”
Lesson 6
I am almost two days late on this post…we had a crazy week! At one point I was panicking about the crisis of the moment and I has a moment of clarity I belong to the God of the Universe, The Creator, and The Great I AM…everything is in His Hands. I was able to take a deep breath and experience…hope. Awesome, because that was just what we were supposed to learn in Lessons 1-5! Today’s lesson took us in a different direction…
Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because
“All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers,
And its flower falls away,
But the word of the Lord endures forever.”Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
This week’s verses are about how our relationship with God impacts our relationships with others. We are called to love sincerely, fervently, and purely. I had to, of course, point out how much the passage talks about The Word of God. I just love the Holy Word…
So, now that you’ve seen the video, tell me, how did you do on Elizabeth George’s “quiz”?
- Is there any person in your life who is not receiving your sincere love?
- Rate your fervency: are you a “5” on the fervent love scale?
- Purity of heart…how does your heart measure up?
Our hope is in Him. If we fall short, He can bring us up to speed. If we disappoint, we can find hope that He does not. If we see no progress in our walk, we must remember we are on our way, even if the way is slow:
so shall My Word be that goes out from My Mouth;
it shall not return to Me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11).
Tell me what's on your heart:
