Face to Face Friday: Gratitude for the Grace

A Gentle and Quiet Spirit

A Video Bible Study: “Putting on a Gentle and Quiet Spirit”
Lesson Five

quiet

I just love this study!  It doesn’t take long, but it has great take homes.  Here is today’s Bible Verse and the ideas that came to my mind as I did the study:

If you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your sojourning in fear;knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God (1 Peter 1:17-21).

  • If you call on The Father…then you should live in fear (reverence, respect).  The knowledge of the value of our salvation should inform our way of living
  • We must find our identity in Christ – we are sojourners, redeemed by incorruptible things (the precious blood of Christ)
  • We are freed from aimlessness…now our lives have purpose (we were made in His likeness, but cannot be like Him because of the Fall)
  •  Yet God changes the way we think, transforms us, (Rom 12:2) so we are remade in His image.
  • God’s steadfast, covenant-keeping love provokes our love and obedience (out of gratitude for the grace)
  • A life of obedience to God = holy living

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect (Romans 12:2, NLT).

So here is today’s video.  If it does not appear, refresh you browser or see it on Youtube by clicking here: Lesson Five

Happy Weekend!  I hope as you sojourn, you remember your identity in Christ…for you were purchased with something Incorruptible.  So walk in gratitude for the grace and feel the warmth of His Hesed, His steadfast love.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘˜Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” (Jer 31:33-34)

When the first day of school is also the day your When the first day of school is also the day your firstborn drives herself to college, it’s a lot. We moved her stuff into her dorm last week. Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back. Auburn University is a better place because you are there! ❤️
