How Does Your Joy Measure Up?

Summer of Joy

john 1010

Joie de vivre:

It means the Joy of Life ~ a zest for living…living with gusto.  It is the opposite of a punch in the gut.  The opposite of rain on your parade.  It is the opposite of  a pinchy shoe with a blister and a limp to match.  There are days, sisters, when you may wonder why you got out of bed.

But a life lived in communion with Jesus provides the opportunity to live above the fray, to find peace in the storm.

I have said these things to you,
that in Me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

Just because we don’t experience this kind of peace and joy all the time doesn’t mean it is not available to us…simply by resting in the fact that God has everything under control and knowing that it will be ok, because He is wise and powerful and good.  Do you ever struggle with keeping this level of comfort?  If so, you’re not the only one!  This summer we are determined the Abide in the Harvest, making is a Summer of Joy.

Here is a little fun to kick off our #SummerofJoy  a funny quiz to test your ability to bounce back and keep your joy (and your sense of humor) intact when encountering “tribulation” or even trifling troubles. If the quiz doesn’t load immediately, please refresh your browser.

I got Queen Esther. Not sure that I always feel like her; however, most of the time I do find that if things are going pretty bad, at some point after praying and talking with God, He gives me a pretty quick change of heart. Sometimes the biggest step for me is simply stopping, breathing and actually talking things over with the Lord.

Maybe you are more like Queen Esther than you realize? She approached the throne and found the King to be more understanding and kinder than she expected. Her trust in him was her rescue. Like her, you have find protection and peace from your King. 🙂

Well, if I did this right I got Naomi. I tend to be a negative person. 🙁
I don’t feel this is a great Christian example that I am to others…

Interesting…. After completing the quiz I was asked, “Are you like Queen Esther?” I would agree, like Esther, I am filled to the brim with fear; however, willing to accept what God has for me. 🙂

Courtney- how fun! I agree that you are like her. She was very brave too. Maybe the most famous verse from that book would apply too: who knows but that you have come to [your place and position] for such a time as this? Somehow God has you right where you are supposed to be – what is His purpose in your situation? Interesting….

Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back.
