Loving Others

Summer of Joy

Yesterday, we talked about God’s steadfast, convenant-keeping, merciful, everlasting love: His HESED.  Since HESED is covenant love, it is mutual ~ it is a two-way street.  As we experience His love, we are provoked to love Him.

His love, for us, grows His love, in us.

And God’s love in our hearts, grows love in us, for others too.

We love because he first loved us.
If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar;
for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen
cannot love God whom he has not seen.
And this commandment we have from him:
whoever loves God must also love his brother.
1 John 4:19-21

We can love others in a variety of ways.  But Abiding in God’s love the is key.  So this week, out of love for Him, try to serve others remembering that you are doing it as a gift for the Lord.  It would be great for you to share on FB or Twitter or Pinterest about how you are loving God by loving others: #SummerofJoy

A quick, but profound, way to share the love of God is to Sponsor a child through Compassion International.  It is easy and yet, very rewarding.  Please visit their website to learn more about it.  Here is a wonderful video about reaching out to the least of these:

When the first day of school is also the day your When the first day of school is also the day your firstborn drives herself to college, it’s a lot. We moved her stuff into her dorm last week. Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back. Auburn University is a better place because you are there! ❤️

Also, so grateful for the wonderful school where she spent the last four years—the perfect place to land after years of homeschooling on the move. “For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” (Ps 100:5) #curatingthegood #graduated🎓 #wisebeyondheryears @graciethenerd @lafonte04 @westminsteroakmtn
