The Amy & Britta Show: Advent Week Four

Slider Posts· Walking Through Advent

Advent and Christmas are the perfect reminder that we must place our hope, look for peace, and find our joy in Jesus. This truth is for every day.

Today we are just two days away from Christmas! Have your holidays gone as you’ve expected? Mine haven’t. I have had some disappointments. Some unexpected joys. A few times I have been ashamed of my selfishness, and other times I have been hurt by someone else’s.

Aren’t we selfish creatures? MY Christmas should be like this, MY Christmas should be like that… Isn’t Christmas supposed to be about self-LESS-ness?

Since God is our example, and He gave us His one and only Son that we might have life, and He did this joyfully, willingly, maybe we should be more about making sacrifices and compromises for other people, instead of trying to have things our own ways? Maybe the “joy of giving” this Christmas could be about giving way, yielding, and submitting our wills in order to serve one another?

We should stop looking out for our own interests and instead focus on the people living and breathing around us.

1 Cor 10:24, VOICE

Because we should never make our goal to be satisfaction in this life. Amy keeps making this point: we can’t look for fulfillment of hope, joy, or peace in our circumstances. When we do, we are courting disappointment. Advent and Christmas are the perfect reminder that we must place our hope, look for peace, and find our joy in Jesus. This truth is for every day. Every stinkin’ day, ya’ll!

In the same region there were shepherds staying out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord flashed and shone around them, and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people. For this day in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord (the Messiah).

Luke 2:8-11. AMP

I made this graphic so you could share the gospel with friends and family. Just right click on it, download it to your phone or computer and share with family and friends via text or email! Share it on Pinterest, Facebook or via Twitter. Just share the gospel…that’s the real gift this Christmas!

This is the gospel—that God would send a peacemaker to brings our hearts home to Him.

So, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…(drumroll, please)…here is this week’s video! We LOLed a lot making it. One of these days I will publish our outtakes. So funny. Anyway, the message this week is that, in Christ, God has given us a great gift of love. In return, we should love our lives, love our people, and love our God!

Be sure to check in here, on Christmas day, for a short, but fun, post that you can share with family!!

When the first day of school is also the day your When the first day of school is also the day your firstborn drives herself to college, it’s a lot. We moved her stuff into her dorm last week. Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back. Auburn University is a better place because you are there! ❤️
