Yikes! The Holidays Are Around the Corner!!

A Simpler Joy

My girl and I went to Michael’s yesterday to get some little frames. But right there, in the front, on an endcap (alongside the fall leaf cookie cutters), we found this darling pie plate:

Apparently Thanksgiving is around the corner. And as of today there are 125 days till Christmas! Last year at Christmas, I was busy trying to expand my book, Prodigal Confessions: 10 Principles that Lead Us Back to the Father, into a 10-week Bible study for a wonderful group of women. I will never forget the experience—it was wonderful.

But I missed Christmas.

Not that I had to leave or anything. I was home, but I was absent-minded, preoccupied, and just plain busy. Our eggnog expired before we opened it. And I grieved over missing the baking and watching the Grinch and just hanging out with my peeps.  Little things.

little thingsSo, though I am only the most mediocre of planners, I am already thinking ahead to the Holidays. And I can’t plan not to be absent-minded, preoccupied, or just plain busy during the holidays. But I am making a short to-do list to keep me on track:

  1. The eggnog
  2. The baking
  3. The Grinch
  4. The peeps

love your people

Whew! Now, I think I am ready to face the holidays. How about you? Did you forget anything important last year that you want to remember this year?

When the first day of school is also the day your When the first day of school is also the day your firstborn drives herself to college, it’s a lot. We moved her stuff into her dorm last week. Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back. Auburn University is a better place because you are there! ❤️
