I have been busy this year. Busy with lots of writing and, at times, busy with lots of people. And then there has been no writing and no people. What I have felt on both ends of the extreme is disconnected.
Somewhere, in the middle
is the sweet spot.
I just thought about this: the last twelve years I have had babies, then toddlers, then preschoolers and finally homeschoolers. That is a lot of time with some of my very favorite people…it has also been a lot of God directing and redirecting my schedule in ways that were sometimes hard.
This year, for the first time in a long time, I see the possibility of a (more) predictable schedule and my heart is giddy as this reality sets in. I have more time to write, but I need to stay connected to the Lord and to people. Believe it or not, even writing about God’s Word can lead me to a dry place when I don’t do anything else.
Balance, people. We all need to learn how to balance the big things with the small, everyday things. To balance tasks and people. To balance obedience with freedom. Because crazy town should not be a regular stop on our route.
This is for you ladies who are in a busy season and can’t fit the Bible study at your church into your schedule. Maybe it is hard to find a Bible study with a nursery your baby likes. Then there are those people—not that I would know anything about this—who have perennial nocturnal agoraphobia: the constant and intense desire to be at home in your jammies, with your people, after dinner, every night. I googled it to see if it was a real thing because I just made it up. I didn’t find it, but it could totally be a real thing, right?
This week I am deep into my preparation for our study of Inseparable: Who I Am, Was, and Will Be in Christ, by Ashley Linne (go, go now and get your book—and then come back!!). Click the box below for the course outline:
This is a wonderful study, just chock-full of truth and grace. And I can’t wait to share it with you. YOU get to “attend” at your leisure—so sign up so you can get all this content in your inbox! I will be:
- Posting a video each Monday, starting August 31.
- Making printables for you hands-on types
- Writing short posts for the word junkies
- Posting on the Come Study with Us Facebook Page for you social types*
- Issuing challenges for all of us, to help us integrate what we are learning into our real lives
- Planning the very real possibility of a google hangout with author Ashley Linne (God willing and the creek don’t rise)
*Be sure to “like” the FB page so you can interact online, like your more traditional Bible studies (except you can’t go to a traditional Bible study in your jammies…just sayin’…). You can also interact in the comments section of each post
If this session of Come Study with Us goes well, we might do more studies (maybe we can do Simply Tuesday next?)—so sign up, read up, and show up. I want to see you on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest….you get the picture!
Tell me what's on your heart:
