First Things First!

A Simpler Joy

September 1st!  Not exactly New Year’s Day, but a new month, a new season (except in Phoenix), and a new school year…a great time to start something new.  This “something new” has been growing in me for almost a year.  It started with a watershed experience: life coaching with Carey Bailey.  I am still seeing changes that I can trace back to this blessing.  I didn’t know it at the time…I thought I just need some help with my “schedule.”  People, I see now that I was down, deep.

But in walking in a new direction…in DOING new things, God writes His message on our hearts.  It is all those mistakes and wrong turns and countless times of repenting.  He etches His imprint deeper and deeper in our hearts, as we walk with Him.

My new walk takes shape too because of another “coach” of mine: Kat Lee, blogging coach extraordinaire.  She is simply amazing.  Ask anyone who has read her, met her, listened to her speak.  She has taught me about the importance of small things.  And she, like Carey Bailey, thinks everyone needs to pursue their dreams.  They both said such similar things to me that I knew God was provoking this change, which was an awesome realization. So, here are some quick take-homes that have changed my thinking…you also might like to:

  • Follow Carey Bailey’s blog, even if you don’t want, or think you can’t afford Life Coaching (it is priceless…you might want to think about it…).  She says really helpful things.
  • When I post Carey’s Pin God 1st post each month, download and print and then just. do it. Every day.
  • Read this FREE book by Kat Lee:  Maximize Your Mornings.  More about the Hello Mornings movement another time.  It deserves a whole post!

So the daily changes I am committing to are this:

  1. Pin God 1st (read the verse of the day and part over it and my family and other prayer concerns).
  2. Exercise next. Get moving ‘“ before I put on a load of laundry, check email, or empty the dishwasher.
  3. Put family before me.  Make sure that I meet the needs of my husband and kids.  This means helping hubby get out the door for work and using my time well afterward to be ready for the day when the kids get up.
  4. Next, finish my Bible study and make a reasonable to do list before the kids have breakfast.
  5. Be optimistic and trust the Lord with rest of the day.  He has way more experience in planning and executing His objectives than anyone else I know.  I can relax.  🙂

These changes are my move toward A Simpler Joy (than the one I have been chasing for years).  Next time, An Invitation to join me so we can connect and hold each other accountable!  If you haven’t already, please subscribe to my blog posts!  You will enjoy a FREE 5 day devotional that will give you a new perspective about your “mistakes” in life and what God does with them when you love Him.

Yes, I receive the emails once a week. Maybe I’m selfish, but I loved getting an email daily or every other day. It’s easier for me to read the message and really let it soak it. However, I’m willing to adapt. 🙂
Have a happy and blessed Sunday!

🙂 I like the daily email too! You can easily select daily deliver if you prefer. If you go to the bottom of the email you get, you will see these oblong ovals (“web version”, “preferences”, “forward”, “unsubscribe”). Click on “Preferences” – this will take you to your own information and you can uncheck “Weekly Delivery” and check “Daily Delivery of Current Posts.” This is like the old Burger King slogan: you can have it your way (and not feel bad about it!). Love your heart 🙂

Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back.
