If the Shoe Fits…Buy It!

From the Pages of My Journal

If-the-Shoe-Fits-Buy-It-graphic-2I can’t believe it y’all  I almost forgot!  TODAY is the If the Shoe Fits Buy It event.  The best excuse ever to buy a pair of shoes.  This event is the way my sweet friend Mindy celebrates the life of her mother.  She recognizes each year, what she calls her mom’s “home going day”, which was January 25.

Mindy’s mom had a difficult battle with ALS. This disease changed the course of her family and it broke Mindy’s heart a bit.  But Mindy sees how God’s Grace can cover all of it and, somehow produce beauty from the ashes.  She wrote this is moving post just before her mom passed on to be with the Lord.  It is a must read…with tissues on hand.  After reading about it, you will see why Mindy created this fun way to remember her mama.

So, if you are like me and can usually find any scrap of an excuse for buying a pair of shoes…here’s your excuse!  My preferred method of shoe selection is right here on my laptop.  Anyone ever heard of ZAPPOS.com?  Holla!!  I love their free-shipping-both-ways, their cute and perky email confirmations, and of course…their shoes.

Mindy says you don’t have to buy the shoes for yourself, you can buy them for anyone.  Or, she says:

If you don’t want to spend money, give some shoes to a donation spot. I prefer Soles 4 Souls, but your area probably won’t have a drop off spot, so anyplace will do. Please email me or tag me in an Instagram photo of the shoes you donate. Five pair minimum.

After your purchase, you can connect with Mindy on her FaceBook page or by checking out her post about the big event!  But hurry!!!  I didn’t give you much notice.  But my “shopping trip” on ZAPPOS.com this year only took me about 6 minutes!

When the first day of school is also the day your When the first day of school is also the day your firstborn drives herself to college, it’s a lot. We moved her stuff into her dorm last week. Today she got up early to say goodbye to Dad (too early! Not pictured 😂), her brother, her doggo, her piano, and her momma. Before she left, she made blueberry scones to share with her little bro @sjoshlafont —they homeschool and relocated together, went to @westminsteroakmtn together, and have shared a love of music, Legos, superheroes (and villains), Transformers, and so much more. She played my favorite song. She even made banana bread to bring to her new roomie. @graciethenerd You are my little nut brown hare, and I love you to the moon and back. Auburn University is a better place because you are there! ❤️
